Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner convicted of “murder” has been transferred to solitary confinement in Mashhad Prison in preparation for execution.
According to reports from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, 28 September 2025, a prisoner in Mashhad Prison was moved to solitary confinement ahead of the implementation of his death sentence. The identity of this prisoner has been verified by Breathing in Confinement but is being withheld.
The prisoner had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
