Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – Sunday, 18 May 2025 – At least one prisoner sentenced to death on charges of murder has been transferred to solitary confinement in Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd Prison) in preparation for the execution of the sentence.
According to information received by Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan has been moved to solitary confinement in advance of his execution. Breathing in Confinement has confirmed the identity of the prisoner as Mahmoud Gholami.
Mahmoud Gholami, a resident of Isfahan, was arrested 11 years ago on charges related to drug offences and murder. He was sentenced to death for the charge of murder.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
