Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Karaj Central Prison for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner convicted of drug-related offences has been transferred to solitary confinement in Karaj Central Prison in preparation for the implementation of his death sentence.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, a prisoner at Karaj Central Prison has been moved to solitary confinement ahead of execution. The identity of this prisoner has been verified by Breathing in Confinement.

The prisoner, originally from Ilam, had previously been arrested on charges related to drug offences and sentenced to death.

 

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
