Prisoner Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Saveh Prison Ahead of Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner sentenced to death on murder charges has been transferred to solitary confinement in Saveh Prison in preparation for the implementation of his sentence.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, 4 August 2025, a prisoner in Saveh Prison was transferred to solitary confinement ahead of execution. The identity of the prisoner – Ali Showkat – has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
Ali Showkat had previously been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
