Breathing in Confinement — the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran — reports that Ms Manizheh Hassani-Fard, a 62-year-old citizen originally from Tabriz and residing in Karaj, has been in custody for over two months and is being held at Fardis Prison (Kachouei), Karaj.

According to the report, Ms Hassani-Fard was arrested by security forces on 27 July 2025 and later transferred to Fardis Prison. More than two and a half months after her arrest, she remains in legal limbo, detained without access to her basic legal rights. Despite suffering from knee osteoarthritis and having a history of cardiac surgery, she has reportedly been denied adequate medical care.

As of the time of writing, no judicial or security body has accepted responsibility for her arrest, and there is no information on the reasons for her detention, any charges brought against her, or the competent judicial authority handling the case.

Sources close to Ms Hassani-Fard’s family state that despite repeated visits to the Karaj Prosecutor’s Office and security agencies, they have received no updates about her case or whereabouts within the system.

Prolonged detention without being informed of charges, and denial of access to a lawyer and to medical care, clearly violate the fair-trial guarantees set out in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Iran is a State Party.
