Security Forces detain seven Women’s Rights Activists

Breathing in Confinement: On Thursday, August 16, seven women’s rights activists named Matin Yazdani, Forough Sami’nia, Yasamin Hashdari, Jelveh Javaheri, Negin Rezai, and two sisters named Zohreh Dadres and Zahra Dadres were arrested in the cities of Rasht, Anzali, and Fooman and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’  Rights League in Iran, on Thursday, August 16, seven women’s rights activists residing in Gilan Province were detained by security forces.

Matin Yazdani, a photographer and women’s rights activist, Forough Sami’nia, Jelveh Javaheri, Zohreh Dadres, and Zahra Dadres, women’s rights activists from Rasht, were arrested by security forces.

Furthermore, concurrently, Yasamin Hashdari from Bandar Anzali and Negin Rezai from Fooman, two other women’s rights activists from Gilan Province, were detained by security forces.

As of this writing, there is no information about the charges brought against these activists or their conditions and place of  detention after the arrest.
