Breathing in Confinement – Report on the protests held on Monday, 2 June 2025:
According to the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Breathing in Confinement, at least 16 protest gatherings and demonstrations took place across the country on Monday, 2 June 2025.
Nationwide Protest by Telecommunication Pensioners in 14 Cities
Telecommunication pensioners in the cities of Kermanshah, Bijar, Rasht, Zanjan, Tehran, Tabriz, Marivan, Sanandaj, Isfahan, Khorramabad, Ilam, Sari, Shiraz, and Urmia gathered to protest what they described as “systematic oppression”.
They expressed anger over the non-implementation of Regulation 89/24, the violation of their rights by the Executive Headquarters of Imam’s Directive and the IRGC’s Cooperative Foundation, and the continued non-payment of overdue entitlements.
During these protests, pensioners chanted slogans such as:
• “The Imam’s Headquarters took telecom and robbed us of our rights”
• “Death to oppressive shareholders!”
• “Neither parliament nor government cares about the people”
• “We won’t stop until we take our rights”
• “One less embezzlement, and our problems will be solved”
Strike by Workers of South Pars Phase 14 Project
Workers at the South Pars Phase 14 project went on strike to protest the non-payment of three months’ wages and the suspension of supplementary health insurance. These workers are demanding improvements in their living conditions and the reinstatement of their insurance coverage.
Protest by Fish Vendors in Bandar Abbas Market Amid 50°C Heat
Fish vendors in the Bandar Abbas market held a protest amid extreme heat nearing 50°C, objecting to the failure to install cooling systems, despite repeated promises by local officials. The unbearable conditions have made their daily work increasingly difficult.
