To serve her sentence, Zhila Shahriari arrested and transferred to Evin prison

Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, September 11, 2022, Zhila Shahriari, a Baha’i citizen, was arrested as per the order of a judge in branch 1 of the Evin prison’s Prosecution Office.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, September 11, 2022, Zhila Shahriari, a Baha’i citizen living in Tehran, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve her prison sentence of 2 years and 6 months.
Ms. Shahriari was arrested while she had not previously received any summons to prison. She had only been summoned to answer a few questions.
Zhila Shahriari was arrested by the security agents on August 22, 2016, and after being interrogated in the security ward 209 under the Ministry of Intelligence was transferred to the women’s ward of Evin prison on September 9 of the same year. On September 13, 2016, she was released on bail awaiting the court’s decision.
She was sentenced to 5 years in prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran headed by Judge Moghiseh for the charges of “action against national security and propaganda activity against the regime”.
Her sentence was finally reduced to 2 and a half years in the Court of Appeal inTehran Province.
