Breathing in Confinement – At least one prisoner who had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to death has been transferred to solitary confinement at Adelabad Prison in Shiraz in preparation for the execution of the sentence.
According to information received by reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Saturday, 14 February 2026, a prisoner in Shiraz Prison was transferred to solitary confinement for the purpose of carrying out the death sentence. The identity of the prisoner has been verified by Breathing in Confinement and is being withheld for security reasons.
The prisoner had previously been arrested on charges of “murder” and sentenced to execution.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
