Transfer of at Least Six Prisoners to Solitary Confinement in Ghezelhesar Prison for Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least six prisoners who had been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death were transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezelhesar Prison, Karaj, for the implementation of their sentences.
According to information obtained by Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, 25 August 2025, six prisoners in Ghezelhesar Prison were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their execution. The identities of these prisoners have been verified by Breathing in Confinement but are being withheld.
These prisoners had previously been arrested on charges related to “drug offences” and sentenced to death.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
