Breathing in Confinement – At least five prisoners sentenced to death on charges related to drug offences and murder have been transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in preparation for the implementation of their sentences.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, five prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj have been moved to solitary confinement for execution. The identities of these individuals—Masoud Naseri, Ardeshir Soltanabadi, Sajjad Moradi, Ali Yousefi, and Seyed Ahmad—have been verified by Breathing in Confinement.
Masoud Naseri, Ardeshir Soltanabadi, and Sajjad Moradi were previously arrested and sentenced to death in separate cases involving drug-related charges. Ali Yousefi and Seyed Ahmad had been arrested and sentenced to death on charges of murder.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
