Transfer of Three Prisoners to Solitary Confinement in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, Ahead of Execution

Breathing in Confinement – At least three prisoners sentenced to death on drug-related charges have been transferred to solitary confinement in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan, in preparation for the implementation of their sentences.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Monday, 4 August 2025, three inmates were moved to solitary confinement in Isfahan Central Prison ahead of their execution. The identities of these prisoners – Ali Rajaei, Reza Sharifzadeh, and Mojtaba Izadi – have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
The three men had previously been arrested and sentenced to death in separate cases, all on charges related to drug offences.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
