Breathing in Confinement – At least two prisoners sentenced to death on drug-related charges have been transferred to solitary confinement in Karaj Central Prison in preparation for their execution.
According to reporters from Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, two prisoners in Karaj Central Prison have been moved to solitary confinement for the implementation of their death sentences. The identities of the prisoners have been confirmed as Kiomars Bahrami and Karim Hemmati.
Kiomars Bahrami and Karim Hemmati were previously arrested and sentenced to death in separate cases on charges related to drug offences.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Center of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
