Breathing in Confinement – At least two prisoners, identified as Mohammad Eshtarak and Alireza Eshtarak, who were charged with rape and kidnapping, have been transferred to solitary confinement in Amirabad Prison, Gorgan, in preparation for the implementation of their death sentences.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, these two individuals—previously arrested in a joint case on charges of rape and kidnapping—were moved to solitary cells on Wednesday, 17 July 2025, in advance of their scheduled execution.

The identities of the two prisoners have been verified by Breathing in Confinement as Mohammad Eshtarak, who is married and a resident of Qareh Tappeh village in Aq Qala, and Alireza Eshtarak, who is single and from the same village.

Local sources report that the two men were arrested approximately three years ago, accused of kidnapping and raping two girls. However, the complainants reportedly withdrew their complaints and granted legal pardon during court proceedings.

Despite the victims’ withdrawal of their complaints, the Golestan Provincial Criminal Court sentenced both men to death, citing the “public aspect of the crime” as the legal basis for the ruling.

The two prisoners had their final visitation with family members on Friday. Their executions are scheduled to be carried out at dawn on Saturday, 19 July.
