Breathing in Confinement: On Friday, August 16, 2024, at least 5 protest gatherings and movements were organized by various segments of the population in different cities across Iran.

According to the “Breathing in Confinement,” the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Friday, August 16, farmers in Isfahan, residents of the village of Khoreh, people in Genaveh, and workers from the Offshore Oil Company held protests.

Farmers in Isfahan continued their sit-in at Khorasgan Square, protesting the denial of their water rights from the Zayandeh River.

Residents of the village of Khoreh in the Mahallat County of the Central Province held a gathering to protest illegal excavations on the ancient Tanbuseh hill and mining activities.

People in Genaveh and the villages of Mohammad Salehi, Fakhravari, Gamaran, and Cham Shahab organized a protest against the road accidents that have led to the deaths of locals, demanding the construction of an overpass at the intersection leading to the highway.

Employees of the Offshore Oil Company in the Siri and Lavan operational areas held a protest gathering, demanding the removal of the maximum salary, correction of the minimum salary, elimination of limitations on seniority pay, full implementation of Article 10 of the Oil Law, and other demands.
