Number of Prisoners Transferred for Execution Rises to Four in Karaj Central Prison

Breathing in Confinement – At least four prisoners sentenced to death on charges related to drug offences have been transferred to solitary confinement in Karaj Central Prison in preparation for the execution of their sentences.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, four prisoners have been moved to solitary confinement in Karaj Central Prison for the implementation of their death sentences. The identities of the prisoners —Fariborz Haghi, Mohammad Gerousi, Ali Eityavandi,and Ali Hosseinpour — have been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.
These four individuals had previously been arrested in separate cases and sentenced to death for drug-related charges.
Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
