The sixth day of protests; Regime’s authorities admit the arrest of protesters

Breathing in Confinement: Following the spread of protests in various cities in Iran, security forces arrested many protesters.

 

According to the reports received on Wednesday, September 21, a number of students at Tehran University were arrested by the guardian forces on 16 Azar street and handed over to the security agents. The arrested students have been identified as: Sara Karimi / Bachelor of Theater and Philosophy, Amir Hossein Zarifian / Master of Graphics, Pegah (Fateme) Zare / Bachelor of Theater, Bardia Shakuri / Master of Economics and Social Sciences, Malika Shah Hosseini / Master of Theater, Navid Qodsi, and Maryam Mohsenian.

 

Also, the governor of Mashhad announced the arrest of a number of protesters in this city during the fourth day of protests against the death of Mahsa Amini. Mohsen Davari, without mentioning the number and identity of the arrested, called them “the leaders of the rebels affiliated to the Counter-revolutionary groups”.

 

Hossein Hassanpour, the deputy police commander of Gilan Province, also announced the arrest of 68 protesters in the last two days in Rasht. He said: The detainees were referred to the judicial authorities for trial”. He added: 43 policemen, Basijï agents and Revolutionary Guards have been injured in recent incidents.” Calling the protesters “troublemakers”, Hasanpour warned that if the protests continue in Rasht, the police will use other “legal means at their disposal”.

 

Lotfollah Sheibani, the governor of Shiraz, announced the arrest of 15 citizens. He said: “Some protesters clashed with police officers, during which one of the police officers was killed. About 15 people involved in the conflict were also arrested in Maali-Abad street.”

 

Confirming the previous statements of the Governor of Kurdistan about the death of 3 citizens during the protest rallies against the killing of Mahsa Amini, the commander of the police force announced the death of the fourth protester. Ali Azadi said: “Today, another citizen named ‘Fouad Al-Ghaedi’ also was killed during these rallies.” He claimed: “These people have been assassinated in a ‘killed producing project’ plot by the dissident groups who terrorize the protesters to pretend that they have been killed by the police”

 

Kermanshah prosecutor also confirmed that 25 citizens were injured, and two others were killed during last night’s protests in this province. Shahram Karami referred to the injured people as “protesters, police forces and ordinary people”.

 

In addition, the governor of Mashhad announced the arrest of a significant number of protesters as: “arrest of groups of 50 people” in Mashhad.

 

Also, Fars news agency, affiliated with the security institutions, announced the arrest of a number of protesters in Malard who had called people for gatherings through social media. Fars wrote: “Some others also have been identified and will be arrested in separate operations.”

 

In addition, Alireza Fatehinejad, the governor of Qarchak, said that several protesting citizens have been arrested in this city. He claimed that “the city is in a good and peaceful situation.”

 

Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old young woman from Saqqez who had traveled to Tehran, was arrested on Tuesday, 13th of September at Haqqani metro station in Tehran by “moral patrol agents” and taken to Vozara Detention Center. Shortly afterward her half-dead body was transferred to the intensive care unit at Kasra Hospital, while she was in a coma with GCS 3. On Friday, 16th of September, her family confirmed her death.

Massive protest rallies started in front of Kasra Hospital in Tehran and rapidly spread to the entire country.
