Breathing in Confinement: The appeal of Arvin Ghahremani, a Jewish citizen sentenced to death, was rejected by the Supreme Court.

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran , the appeal request of Arvin Ghahremani, a 20-year-old Iranian Jewish citizen, was rejected by the Supreme Court. Arvin Ghahremani, a Jewish citizen from Kermanshah, was sentenced to death at the age of 18 on charges of “murder” in a street fight. However, according to Mr Ghahremani’s mother, he defended himself against the victim’s attack and even tried to save his life when he was injured. But the victim provided with a delayed medical care and he died.

According to another reports, the issue of legitimate self defence has not been raised in Mr Ghahremani’s case.

The victim’s family refused to accept the blood money and demanded the execution of the death sentence.
In an audio file released on social media a while ago, Arvin’s mother asked people for help. She said: “Please pray for Arvin so that my son can return home once again.” This request was made while the Jewish Association of Iran and Kermanshah have also continuously tried to gain the consent of the plaintiff’s family, but none of their efforts have been successful.

Arvin Ghahremani is currently being held in Dizel Abad prison in Kermanshah.
