Revolutionary Court in Piranshahr sentences two of the citizens to a total of ten years in prison

Breathing in Confinement, February 9, 2021: Khedr Ghaderi Azar and Shafi Mohammadnejad, two citizens of Piranshahr, were sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison by the city’s Revolutionary Court. The two citizens had previously been detained by security forces in early November and released on bail in late December.

According to the Kurdistan Center for Democracy and Human Rights, Khezr Ghaderi Azar and Shafi Mohammadnejad were each sentenced by the Revolutionary Court in Piranshahr to five years in prison on a charge of collaborating with one of the opposition parties.

These citizens were arrested by security forces in Piranshahr on Monday, November 9, 2020, and were transferred to one of the security detention centers in Urmia, from where they later released on bail.

Mr. Khezr Ghaderi-Azar, 50, son of Abdullah, and Mr. Shafi Mohammadnejad, 44, son of Mohammad, are from Piranshahr city in West Azerbaijan province.
