Breathing in confinement: More than 20 days after the beginning of the nationwide protests following the killing of Mahsa Amini by the Morality Patrol agents, at least 40 students are still in custody. After the students joined the protests and following a call for strike in 120 universities, hundreds of students were arrested.

 

According to “Breathing in confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 40 students are still in the custody of the security forces. During the nationwide protests in the last three weeks, hundreds of students were arrested all over Iran. In recent days, 50 arrested students were temporarily released on bail. Their temporary release provoked the protest of students and their nationwide strike, and students refused to attend classes. Last week, from Saturday, October 1, classes were closed in various universities.

 

Pedram Moini, PhD student of Political Sociology of Tehran University of Research Sciences, Central Branch, was arrested on September 24 by plain clothe forces and taken to Evin prison.

 

Ali Punehtalab, a law student at Birjand University, was arrested by the security forces on Monday, October 3.

 

Shayan Reyhani, a master’s student in ancient languages ​​at Allameh University in Mashhad, was arrested by the security forces.

 

Mohammad Reza Mansouri, a 3rd year museum student at Shiraz Art University, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, October 1 at 10:30 am in front of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. As per the report, he is now being kept in Adel Abad prison in Shiraz.

 

Amir Azizi, a student of architecture at Tehran Azad University, Northern Branch and a writer and poet, was arrested by the security forces on October 2, and transferred to Evin prison. According to “Breathing in Confinement”, on October 1, 12 armed agents raided his home and confiscated his personal belongings in his absence. The agents informed his family that Mr. Azizi should appear at Evin Prosecutor’s Office on October 2 for some explanations. After appearing in the Evin courthouse, however, Mr. Azizi was arrested and taken to an unknown location. It should be noted that during his arrest, his eyes and hands were injured .

 

Nia Arjamandzadeh, a 7th year PhD student at Shiraz University, was arrested by security forces while leaving the university on Saturday, October 1.

 

Elham Ramezani, a graduate of Master’s degree in art research from Semnan University and a feminist painter, was arrested by the security forces on Sunday, October 2, and has now been released on bail after undergoing interrogation.

 

Elahe Ramezani, a master’s student of Museum Studies at Tehran University of Art was arrested by security forces on Saturday, October 1, and immediately after the interrogation was completed, she was transferred to Gonbad Kavos prison.

 

Yahya Patshikpour, a senior student of Restoration of Buildings and Historical Structures at Azad University of Tehran, was arrested by security forces on October 4.

 

Anahita Hashmipour, a psychology undergraduate student at Tehran University of Rehabilitation Sciences and Social Health, was arrested by security forces in front of the dormitory on Tuesday morning, October 4.

 

Alireza Azad and Mohammad Mehdi Mohammadi, 7th year students of computer science at Sharif University, were arrested by the security forces. On a phone call to their families, these students informed them that they have been transferred to Evin detention centre.

 

Mehdi Mohamadi, a chemistry undergraduate student at Khajeh Nasir University, was arrested by – security forces on the night of Monday, October 3rd.

 

Behnam Heydari, a master’s student of Theatre at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, October 1. At the same night on a phone call to his family, he said that he was in Evin detention centre. But in the following days, when his family repeatedly went to Evin, they were told that Behnam had been transferred to an unknown location.

 

On October 4, three English language and literature students at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad named Ali Jalilian, Sepehr Bassami, and Mohammad Amin Mousavi were arrested by security forces while leaving the university.

 

Sajjad Jiriaei, a student at the University of Judicial Sciences and a graduate of Ayatollah Boroujerdi University, was arrested after a night attack by security forces on his home.

 

Ali Taheri, a master’s student of animation at Tehran University of Art, was arrested on October 1, by 6 plainclothes agents at his home in Tehran, and all his electronic devices were confiscated. He is currently kept in ward 209 of Evin prison.

 

Hamed Khalili, a political science master’s student at Qazvin International University, has been detained for more than seven days.

 

Amirshahin Fatemi, a master’s student in cultural studies at the University of Science and Culture, and the secretary of the Scientific Association of the Students Union of Social Science, has been arrested by the security forces at his home.

 

Fardin Nazari, a graduate of Bachelor of Plant Medicine from Gilan University from Oshnavye, has been missing since September 28 and his family is unaware of his condition and his whereabouts.

 

Armin Jalali Roshan, a 3rd year computer engineering student at Amirkabir University, was arrested by security forces at his home in the evening of October 2.

 

Masoud Niazi, a Bachelor of Law student at Khawarizmi University, was arrested by security forces on the evening of October 2.

 

Sirvan Soleimani, a law student at Kharazmi University, was arrested by security forces on the evening of October 2.

 

Seyyed Kian Sadraei, a 3rd year law student at Kharazmi University, was arrested by security forces on Saturday evening, October 1.

 

Seyyed Vahid Mousavi, a trade union activist and former student of Shiraz University, who had withdrawn from continuing his studies last year in protest against the cruel procedures of Shiraz University, was arrested on Thursday, September 29, when the security forces raided his home.

 

Parviz Jangal, a master’s student of foreign languages ​​at Tehran University, from Sistan and Baluchestan, while was on his way to the university to receive his student card was forced into a police car by the security forces and taken to an unknown location.

 

Ali Daei Naseri, a master’s student in youth studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tehran University, was arrested on September 25 in the university’s premises and has been in Evin Detention Centre since.

Mohammad Reza Masoudi, a student at the Islamic Revolution College, was arrested by security forces at noon on October 1, in front of Tehran University.

 

Reza Kianipour, a 4th year medical student at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, October 1, in front of the Faculty of Medicine at Tehran University, located on Poursina Street.

 

Mohammad Hossein Shoaei, a political science undergraduate student at Allameh Tabatabai University, was arrested on Thursday, September 29, in Shariati Street by Intelligent agents.

 

Arad Rostamzad, a 2nd year student of mechanic at Khajeh Nasir University, was arrested by the security forces on Thursday, September 29, and was taken Evin prison.

 

Zahra Yas Moini, a student activist and political science student of Allameh Tabatabaei University, was arrested on Thursday, September 29, in Shariati Street by the Intelligent agents.

 

Morteza Ghanbari, a student activist and BA student of psychology at Allameh Tabatabai University, was arrested on Thursday, September 29, in Shariati Street by the agents of the Ministry of Information.

 

Ali Muslimi, a master’s student in transportation engineering at the University of Science and Technology, was arrested by the security forces on Monday, September 19, in Keshavarz Blvd. He is currently being kept in  Great Tehran prison (Fashafouye).

 

Amir Hossein Ghorbanzadeh, a 2nd year student of Physical Education at Tehran University, was arrested by the security forces in front of Sarsabz metro station.

 

Mohammad Saleh Homayouni, a pharmacy student of Shahid Beheshti University, was arrested on Monday, September 19, and is currently incarcerated in Great Tehran Prison.

 

Hadi Amirmohseni, a business management student at Imam Sadegh University, was arrested on 16 Azar Street on September 25.

 

Mehdi Kohanoord, an agriculture student at Tehran University, was arrested on Tuesday, September 28.

 

Shahriar Shams, a management student at Tehran Azad University, North Branch, and a student activist, was brutally arrested by the security forces. As per the news, in order to put pressure on Shahryar and force him to submit to arrest, the officers first arrested his sister out of his house and severely beat her, so much so that her nose was broken, and she went unconscious. Later, Shahriar Shams was taken out of the house and arrested, and then his sister was released and Shahriar was taken to an unknown location.

 

Ramin Kiani, a master’s student of International Relations at Tehran University and the secretary of the University’s International Relations Scientific Association, was arrested by the security forces on Tuesday, September 27.

 

Mohammad Pardehbaf, a student at Yazd University of Science and Art, was arrested by the security forces on September 26 in Atlasi Square in Yazd.

 

Benjamin Moghadsi, a senior industrial engineering student at Tehran University, was arrested by security forces on Saturday, September 24.

 

On Saturday, October 1, Tabriz University students were beaten and arrested by special forces and plain clothes agents. The special forces fired tear gases into the university, injuring a number of students.

Ali Mohammad Dost Hosseini, a dental student at Sadougi University in Yazd.

Sepideh Nawabi a management student at Kharazmi University.

Ali Hedayati Vardi, student of microbiology at University of Tehran.

Salar Jahadkaran a 2nd year computer engineering student at Golestan University.

 

On the evening of Sunday, October 2, special forces and plain clothes agents surrounded the students at Sharif University and arrested dozens of them. The agents prevented the students from leaving the university and attacked those who were trying to leave the university through the parking lot and injured a number of them. In protest against the attack on the university and the arrest of students, the Sharif University Faculty Council in a statement called for a two-hour strike.
