Breathing in Confinement: On the morning of Saturday, June 26, 2021, a postdoctoral student at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, attempted suicide by hanging himself to death.

According to “Breathing in Confinement,” the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, Saeed Gholi Beiglou, a postdoctoral student in physics at Ferdowsi University in Mashhad, attempted suicide in the dormitory room.

“Mr. Saeed Gholi Beiglou had told to the dormitory supervisor that he was not feeling well and that he was thinking of suicide. The supervisor called an ambulance and referred him to the university’s mental health center where a doctor advised him that there was no problem, and gave him a counselling appointment for the next day. After returning to the dormitory, however, Mr. Gholi Beiglou hung himself from a ceiling fan and lost his life,” said an informed source.

It needs to be mentioned that in recent years, there has been a significant rise in suicide rate among educated people. A sad fact, which is being attributed to economic hardship and lack of a clear perspective of the future.
