Arrest of Omid Ansarifar, another member of Ansarifar family in Behbahan

Breathing in Confinement: On July 27, 2022, to arrest Farzaneh Ansarifar, the sister of Farzad Ansarifar, one of the victims of the November 2019 protests, the security forces in Behbahan raided her home. However, because Ms. Ansari Fard was not at home, the agents after searching the home, and beating her family members, arrested his brother Omid Ansarifar, and took him to an unknown location.

 

According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, security forces in Behbahan raided the home of Farzaneh Ansari Far the sister of Farzad Ansari Far one of the victims of the November 2018 uprisings.

 

Farzaneh Ansarifar tweeted the news of the beating of her family member and the arrest of her brother Omid Ansarifar. The agents arrested her brother while his father and her other brother are currently imprisoned in Behbahan prison.

 

According to an informed source, security agents beat and bruised the arm of one of her family members and Farzaneh’s mother fainted due to mental pressure.

 

As of this writing, there is no detailed information about the reasons for the attempt to arrest Farzaneh Ansarifar.

 

Farzaneh Ansarifar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison by Branch 1 of Bandar Mahshahr Revolutionary Court in mid-February 2022 on charges of “gathering and colluding against the security of the country and propaganda against the regime”. Should the Court of Appeal approves the sentence, 3 years and 6 months imprisonment will be applicable to her on the charge of “gathering and colluding against the security of the country”. The trial on the charges of Farzaneh Ansari was held on February 2, 2022.

 

In addition, on December 25, 2021, the first hearing of the charges against Mrs. Ansari Far regarding another case was held in Branch 103 of the Criminal Court 2 in Behbahan, presided over by Judge Rasool Rasoolinejad. The court also concurrently also tried some other citizens. The second session of Ms. Ansarifar’s trial was held on February 16, 2022 in the same branch.

During the November 2019 protests in Behbahan, a number of citizens including Mehrdad Dashtinia, Mahmoud Dashtinia, Farzad Ansari Far, Mohammad Hossein Qanawati, Ehsan Abdullah Nejad and Mohammad Hasham Dar, were shot dead by security forces.

Also, on October 22, 2020, Harana news agency announced that 36 of those arrested during the November 2019 protests in Behbahan had been sentenced to 109 years in prison as well as 2,590 lashes by Branch 102 of the Criminal Court 2 Behbahan.
