Breathing in Confinement – As the 84th week of the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign was held, political prisoners in 51 prisons across the country, along with the families of prisoners sentenced to death, once again demanded the immediate abolition of execution sentences through statements and protest gatherings. In parallel, at least 19 other demonstrations and protests were reported across various parts of the country.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, political prisoners in their statement condemned the widespread and ongoing wave of executions, calling it a “clear violation of fundamental human rights” and a tool for “bloody repression of the people and silencing the voices of freedom and justice.” They stressed:

“We are approaching the 40th day since the cowardly execution of Mehdi Hassani and Behrooz Ehsani; two political prisoners whose families, after 36 days, still do not know where they are buried. This act is nothing but enforced disappearance and torture of grieving families, and is part of the ongoing pattern of human rights violations in Iran.”
