Court of Appeal in Ahvaz sentences Maziar Seyednejad to 3 years in prison

Breathing in Confinement: Branch 16 of Ahvaz Court of Appeals upheld the three-year prison sentence for Maziar Seyednejad, a labor activist arrested along with some of Haft Tappeh workers during their protests. Mr. Seyednejad had previously been sentenced by Branch 4 of Ahvaz Revolutionary Court to 3 years in prison.
According to the sentence issued by Branch 16 of the Court of Appeals of Khuzestan Province which has been notified to Mr. Seyed Nejad, he has been sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of membership in one of the opposition groups.
Maziar Seyednejad was arrested by security forces in Ahvaz on December 1, 2018 and after completion of interrogations was transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.
Finally, he was temporary released from Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz on March 18, 2019, on a bail of 500 million Tomans, awaiting the court’s decision.
