Breathing in Confinement: Farhad Salmanpour Zahir was stabbed by a security guard on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.
According to “Breathing in Confinement”, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iranian ,on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Mohammad Hossein Aghasi, Farhad Salmanpour Zahir’s lawyer, announced that this political prisoner had been attacked and stabbed by a security guard at the Greater Tehran Prison.
“Farhad Salmanpour was attacked and wounded with a knife by a security guard,” an informed source told the reporter of Breathing in Confinement.
Considering the severity of his injuries, Farhad Salmanpour Zahir has been admitted to the prison’s infirmary.
As the prosecutor has not allowed Mr. Aghasi to visit Farhad Salmanpour Zahir, he has expressed concern about his client’s condition.
Mr. Aghasi added that Farhad Salmanpour Zahir had previously been thrown down from the top of a triple bed and had suffered serious injuries.
While in prison, Farhad Salmanpour Zahir has faced a “new case” for providing information about the suspicious death of Shahin Naseri. The new charges against him are “acting against the security of the country by sending audio files to and interviewing with foreign and counter-revolutionary media”, “propaganda against the regime” and “spreading lies”.
Following the suspicious death of Shahin Naseri in Fashafoyeh Prison (Greater Tehran Prison), Farhad Salmanpour Zahir released an audio file stating that he had been killed in this prison.
It should be noted that Farhad Salmanpour Zahir was arrested on August 21, 2019 by security forces. In Branch 3 of the Evin Security Court, he was charged by Samad Hadipour with “assisting in the escape of Saeed Malekpour,” “conspiracy against the government,” “propaganda activity against the regime,” and “leaking classified information.” After 45 days in solitary confinement and interrogation, he was transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison.
He was also pressured to make a forced confession about his relationship and cooperation with Ruhollah Zam.
