Breathing in Confinement – Amid continued repression and security crackdowns at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, five students have been arrested.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Monday, 16 February 2026, four students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences were arrested in the city of Tabriz by security forces.
Based on this report, the detained individuals are:

Danial Arshadmanesh, a student at the university and Secretary of Organisation of the Islamic Students Association.

Reza Mohammadi, 24 years old, a dental student and a member of the Islamic Students Association.

Mohammad Asadi, a medical student and Secretary of the Welfare Committee of the Islamic Students Association.

Mohammadamin Soltanzadeh, a medical student and former Head of Public Relations of the Islamic Students Association.
The above-mentioned students were arrested in Tabriz earlier today. Previously, Breathing in Confinement had also reported the arrest of Ali Parvin, a pharmacy student and Secretary of the Political Committee of the Islamic Students Association. With this case, the total number of students arrested today has risen to five.
As of the time of publication of this report, no information has been released regarding the arresting authority, the official reasons for the arrests, the possible charges, or the place of detention of these students.
Reports also indicate that during the arrests, some of the students’ personal belongings, including laptops and mobile phones, were confiscated.
