From March 20 to May 20, 2021, at least 800 protests were held in the country.

In the last 30 days, from May 20 to June 20, 2021 also, people continued to protest. These protests have taken place despite the spread of Covid-19, and its high number of daily casualties, and while the authorities of the Islamic Republic have not taken any measures to vaccinate people and control the increasing numbers of admitted patients and death rates.

Ahwaz University of Medical Sciences announced that the fifth wave of Covid-19 has started in the southern cities of the country. Nevertheless , various groups of people still held numerous rallies to protest their poor living conditions.

 

Over the last recent months, rising prices and inflation have worsened people’s economic situation and mainly nutritional status.

 

At least 200 protests took place by different groups of people in various cities of Iran.

 

These protests have frequently been ignored by the Islamic Republic authorities. The reality, however, is that the Iranian social body can no longer bear this burden, and the social crisis will eventually turn into an explosion, a fact that is repeatedly referred to and warned against, by the state newspapers.

 

Last month, the workers, farmers, teachers, university professors, drivers, and family members of the martyrs of November 2019 uprisings as well as other groups of people in various cities held gatherings and dmanded their rights.

 

Over the last 2 days, the protests of the people in the Cities of Yasuj (center of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province), Jiroft and Bagh-e Malek were violently repressed by the police forces who directly opened fire on the protesters.

The videos posted on social media, show the very violent treatment of the people of Bagh-e Malek by the police. According to the latest reports received by “Breathing in Confinement”, anti-rebel agents as well as military forces have occupied the entire city of Yasuj. In the main squares of the city, people are under tight control and many have been arrested.

 

The prosecutor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province announced the arrest of 100 people in Yasuj during the protests.

 

The whereabouts of the detainees and their identities are yet to be known.
