Breathing in Confinement – The death sentences of at least two prisoners convicted on charges of security offences and corruption on earth (efsad fel-arz) were carried out in Shiraz Prison.
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on the morning of Wednesday, 13 August 2025, at least two prisoners were hanged in Shiraz Prison. Their identities have been confirmed as Eskandar Bazmandegan and Hamid Kashfi. Breathing in Confinement had previously reported the execution of Eskandar Bazmandegan on 17 August. There is still no information available regarding the identity, fate, or status of the third defendant in the case.
Eskandar Bazmandegan, 37, from Bandar Khamir, and Hamid (Mohammad) Kashfi, 40, from Khur, Larestan, were arrested two years ago on security-related charges connected to the Shahcheragh attack case and sentenced to death. In this case, three prisoners had been sentenced to death by the Shiraz Revolutionary Court in May 2025 on the charge of complicity in corruption on earth. The executions of Eskandar Bazmandegan and Hamid Kashfi, two of the defendants, were carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz. However, no information is available on the fate or status of the third defendant in the case.

Annual Report on Executions in Iran
According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024. Among them, six people were executed in public, and the executed also included 38 women and 9 juvenile offenders.
