3 imprisoned activists sentenced to a total of 55 years in prison

Breathing in Confinement – Three activists who are detained in Qarchak prison of Varamin have been sentenced to a total of 55 years in prison.
According to a report obtained by Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran (PRLI), Yasaman Ariani, Monire Arabshahi and Mojgan Keshavarz have been sentenced by the revolutionary court of Tehran.
They have been informed of their verdict in the absence of their lawyer on 30 July 2019.
According to article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, they will have to serve the highest sentence which is 10 years for encouraging corruption.
According to the verdict of branch 28 of the revolutionary court, headed by judge Mogheyse, Yasaman Ariani, Monire Arabshahi and Mojgan Keshavarz have been sentenced to 5 years for gathering and colluding against the national security, 1 year for spreading propaganda against the regime and 10 years for encouraging corruption.
In addition to these, Mojgan Keshavarz has been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months on charge of sacrilege.
Yasaman Ariani had been arrested on 10 April 2019 and taken to Vozara detention center. Monire Arabshahi, her mother was arrested one day later and they were both taken to ward 5 of Qarchak prison of Varamin.
Mojgan Keshavarz was also arrested on 25 April 2019 at her house and sent to Qarchak prison of Varamin on 1 May 2019.
