Breathing in Confinement, November 26, 2020: In reaction to the transfer of Ahmad Reza Jalali, an Iranian-Swedish physician, and crisis management researcher, to solitary confinement, Amnesty International called for his death sentence to be immediately halted.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is appalling that despite repeated calls from UN human rights experts to quash Ahmadreza Djalali\u2019s death sentence and release him, the Iranian authorities have instead decided to push for this irreversible injustice. They must immediately halt any plans to execute Ahmadreza Djalali and end their shocking assault on his right to life,\u201d said Diana Eltahawy, Amnesty International Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa.<\/p>\n

Amnesty International further called on members of the international community to “immediately intervene, including through their embassies in Tehran, to save Ahmadreza Djalali\u2019s life before it is too late.”<\/p>\n
