Breathing in Confinement, December 8, 2020: On December 7, Keyvan Samimi, the editor-in-chief of Iran-e Farda magazine, who was among those detained on International Workers’ Day, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison after appearing in Sentence Implementation Unit of Evin Court.<\/p>\n

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, on Monday, December 7, 2020, Prison to serve his 3 years sentence, Keyvan Samimi, a member of the Iranian Writers Association, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Mr. Samimi was among those who were detained in a rally held on the occasion of the International Workers\u2019 Day in May 2019. In June 2019, after serving two months in solitary confinement, he was released on bail.<\/p>\n
On a trial by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, Mr samimi was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “conspiracy to act against national security” as well as “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic.”<\/p>\n

After Mr. Samimi appealed the proceedings, the sentence was overturned and the court held the second hearing to reconsider the case. In the retrial, he received 3 years in prison which was upheld by the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
In August of this year, Mr. Samimi had been summoned to the Sentence Implementation Unit of Evin Court, where the execution of his sentence was postponed.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Keyvan Samimi had been 4 years in prison after the 2009\u2019s series of arrests. During the Pahlavi dynasty also, had a history of imprisonment.<\/p>\n
In addition, one of his brothers was executed during the Pahlavi reign and his other brother also was executed in the 1980s.<\/p>\n
