Breathing in Confinement: Branch 16 of Ahvaz Court of Appeals upheld the three-year prison sentence for Maziar Seyednejad, a labor activist arrested along with some of Haft Tappeh workers during their protests. Mr. Seyednejad had previously been sentenced by Branch 4 of Ahvaz Revolutionary Court to 3 years in prison.<\/p>\n

According to the sentence issued by Branch 16 of the Court of Appeals of Khuzestan Province which has been notified to Mr. Seyed Nejad, he has been sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of membership in one of the opposition groups.<\/p>\n

Maziar Seyednejad was arrested by security forces in Ahvaz on December 1, 2018 and after completion of interrogations was transferred to Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.<\/p>\n

Finally, he was temporary released from Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz on March 18, 2019, on a bail of 500 million Tomans, awaiting the court\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
