Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, August 8, the driver of a Peugeot Pars car in Urmia, after objecting two women\u2019s type of clothing, ran over them by his car. And this was done under the pretext of \u201cAmr bi al-Maruf wa’l-Nahy an al-Munkar,\u201d meaning advising people to do good and avoid doing bad.<\/p>\n

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news organ of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, on Sunday, August 8, a man in Urmia harassed two women for not wearing a good hijab, and this led to a verbal argument between them. The man then ran over them by his car.<\/p>\n

On Monday, August 9, the ILNA news agency confirmed the news and wrote that the driver who had “run over both women” fled the scene but was arrested in the late hours of the night.<\/p>\n

According to the report, both women were taken to the nearest emergency center, one of whom was seriously injured.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Public Prosecutor of Urmia also announced the arrest of the driver and without giving any explanation, added that “the accused will be tried and punished.”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
West Azerbaijan Police Chief, Massoud Khorramnia also said that the incident took place during a “norm breaking event” and that the Intelligence and Public Security Police were investigating the matter.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, last night, in an official statement, the Headquarters of “Amr bi al-Maruf wa’l-Nahy an al-Munkar” in West Azerbaijan confirmed the news, condemned the act and called for legal action.<\/p>\n
