Breathing in Confinement – Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, imprisoned labour activist in Rajai\u00a0 Shahr prison in Karaj, has been sentenced to 9 years and a half imprisonment due to a new case.<\/p>\n
According to the report of \u201cBreathin in Confinement\u201d, this prisoner, who is a member of \u201cCommittee for Following the Establishment of Independent Labour Organizations\u201d, had a court hearing on 3rd<\/sup> December and he has been sentenced to 9 years imprisonment due to the court verdict.<\/p>\n That court was headed by Judge Ahmadzadeh and court verdict was issued on 29th<\/sup> December and he was notified by Judge Salavati in branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court.<\/p>\n Based on this court verdict, he was charged with “association with Ahmad Shaheed and MEK,\u00a0 gathering and collusion against the national security” and according to article 610 of the Penal Code, sentenced to seven years and a half in prison and on charge of “propaganda against the regime” based on Article 500 of the Penal Code to 18 months in prison and a fine of 450,000 Tomans, therefore, he has been sentenced to a total of 9 years to bear immediate imprisonment and a fine of 450,000 Tomans and also, for \u00a0“keeping Playing Cards” has been sentenced to endure four and a half months in prison.<\/p>\n On 3rd<\/sup> December, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh was transferred to ward 1 of Rajai Shahr prison after the court hearing and later on 27th<\/sup> December, he was transferred to ward 2 at the same prison. He went on hunger strike demanding to be transferred to political prisoners\u2019 ward.<\/p>\n However, after 31 days of repeated requests by his inmates and his family, he ended his hunger strike.<\/p>\n Also, formerly he was on hunger strike with fluid for 24 days and 2 days on complete hunger strike and finally on 4th<\/sup> September, he was transferred to political prisoners\u2019 ward from the ordinary prisoners\u2019 ward in Rajai Shahr prison in karaj.<\/p>\n On 3rd<\/sup> May, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh was transferred to Moghadasi Court in Evin prison and then to solitary confinement in ward 209 of Evin prison.<\/p>\n He was under interrogation in ward 209 until 12th<\/sup> August that caused another case to be opened against him.<\/p>\n The pressures, on this labor activist, increased following the attack to ward 350 in Evin prison by the Intelligence, IRGC forces and prison guards on 17th<\/sup> April this year.<\/p>\n This labour activist was sentenced to 5 year imprisonment by the Revolutionary court on charge of \u201cgathering and collusion\u201d and is serving the 4th<\/sup> year of his sentence.<\/p>\n He was arrested by security forces on 12th<\/sup> June 2010 and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, but his sentence was reduced to 5 years by the appeal court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Breathing in Confinement – Behnam Ebrahimzadeh, imprisoned labour activist in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, has been sentenced to 9 years and a half imprisonment due to a new case.
