Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the death sentences of at least 9 prisoners, including a woman who had been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and drug-related offenses, were carried out in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.<\/p>\n
According to Breathing in Confinement,\u00a0 the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, at least 9 prisoners, accused of \u201cmurder\u201d and drug-related charges, were executed at dawn on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj.<\/p>\n
The identities of the prisoners include Iraj Ahadi, Ahmad Alizadeh, Saman Bozorgi, an unidentified woman, Mohsen Moradi, Jafar Rastgar, Hamzeh Torkashvand, Khaled Tajik (an Afghan national), and Jafar Rahsepar.<\/p>\n
Iraj Ahadi, Mohsen Moradi, Ahmad Alizadeh, Saman Bozorgi, and a female prisoner had been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and were sentenced to death. Iraj Ahadi had been in detention under a death sentence for the past 8 years.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Alizadeh\u2019s execution was carried out for the second time, despite initial consent from the victim\u2019s family to halt the execution during the first attempt two months ago. He had been on the gallows for 28 seconds before being taken down and revived after the family\u2019s intervention.
