Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Thursday, November 14, the execution of a prisoner convicted of \u201cmurder\u201d was carried out in Amol Prison.<\/p>\n
According to Breathing in Confinement<\/strong>, the news outlet of the Prisoners’s Rights League in Iran, at least one prisoner was executed on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d in Amol Prison at dawn on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The identity of the prisoner, Reza Kardel, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.<\/p>\n Reza Kardel, a resident of the village of Rukesh, was arrested two and a half years ago on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and sentenced to death. The efforts of Mr Kardel’s family to secure the consent of the victim\u2019s family (to forgo the execution) were unsuccessful, and he was hanged at dawn on Thursday, November 14, in the courtyard of Amol Prison.<\/p>\n No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner\u00a0 has not been announced by official resources.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the\u00a0Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran<\/strong>, at least\u00a0848 citizens\u00a0<\/strong>were executed in 2023.
