Breathing in Confinement: On Sunday, November 24, 2024, at least seven protests were held by various groups of people, including retirees and nurses.<\/p>\n
According to Breathing in Confinement, the Statistics Center of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, \u00a0nurses and staff of Apadana Hospital in Ahvaz held a protest over delayed salaries and the uncertainty faced by patients and their companions.<\/p>\n
Contract workers of the Third-Party Departments of Gachsaran Oil and Gas Exploitation Company protested and marched in response to officials\u2019 lack of action on their job-related issues and their demand for permanent employment status. Workers chanted: \u201cOur message to the government: Shame on you, shame on you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Steel retirees in Isfahan held a protest over their poor living conditions. They demanded the correction of pension parity, supplementary insurance. Some of their chants included: \u201cThey\u2019ve used Islam as a tool and worn the people out,\u201d \u201cOnly by showing up in the streets can we claim our rights,\u201d \u201cInsufficient wages! Silence changes nothing,\u201d and \u201cWhen will retirees\u2019 problems be solved?\u201d<\/p>\n
Social security retirees from Shush, Karkheh, and Haft Tappeh, as well as retirees from Ahvaz, Tehran, and Kermanshah, protested low pensions, discrimination, poor living conditions, poverty, inflation, and high prices. They demanded increased pensions, welfare services, and free healthcare. Among their chants were: \u201cHigh taxes, terrible services,\u201d \u201cPower cuts are pushing us back to the Stone Age,\u201d \u201cIncompetent officials! Don’t you know that people\u2019s food depends on electricity?\u201d \u201cElectricity, gas, and livelihood have been stolen from the people,\u201d \u201cYou didn\u2019t implement wage parity, you stole the budget,\u201d \u201cProtest and assembly are our undeniable rights,\u201d \u201cImprisoned teachers must be freed,\u201d \u201cImprisoned workers must be freed,\u201d \u201cWe won\u2019t live under oppression, we\u2019ll give our lives for freedom,\u201d \u201cShame on this servitude, shame on this life,\u201d and \u201cThe appointed government is full of lies.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
