Breathing in Confinement: At dawn on Sunday, January 5, the death sentences of at least four prisoners who had been arrested and convicted of \u201cdrug-related offenses\u201d were carried out in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.<\/p>\n

According to \u201cBreathing in Confinement,\u201d the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, on the morning of January 5, four prisoners were executed in Shiraz Prison on charges related to \u201cdrug offenses.\u201d The identities of these prisoners have been confirmed as Khalil Alizahi (Sargalzahi), Sajjad Arzandeh, Mohammadreza Hosseinzadeh, and Amir Mohammad Farahani.<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n As reported by \u201cBreathing in Confinement,\u201d Khalil Alizahi (Sargalzahi), the 45-year-old son of Mohammad Omar and father of eight children, was arrested two years ago. Sajjad Arzandeh, aged 48, Mohammadreza Hosseinzadeh, aged 44, three years ago, and Amir Mohammad Farahani, previously, were all arrested in separate cases on charges of \u201cdrug-related offenses\u201d and sentenced to death. The sentences were carried out at dawn on Sunday, January 5, in Adelabad Prison, Shiraz.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official resources.<\/p>\n Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the annual report of the Statistics Center of the\u00a0Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran<\/strong>, at least\u00a0848 citizens\u00a0<\/strong>were executed in 2023.
