Breathing in Confinement<\/strong> \u2013 At 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, the execution of at least eight prisoners convicted on drug-related charges was carried out in Vakilabad Prison, Mashhad.<\/p>\n

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran<\/strong>, the execution took place on the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Mashhad Central Prison (Vakilabad). The identities of the executed prisoners have been confirmed as Jalal Afaq, Javad Afaq, Alireza Afaq, Asiyeh Ghavi Cheshm, Aref Sediqpour, Masoud Pagi Zehi (Barahouei), Hassan Shahraki, and Mehrdad Kalbali.<\/p>\n

According to reports received by Breathing in Confinement, Jalal Afaq, Javad Afaq, and Alireza Afaq\u2014three brothers\u2014along with Asiyeh Ghavi Cheshm, all residents of Khalqabad village in Mashhad\u2019s central district, were arrested in a joint case on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Aref Sediqpour from Kerman, Masoud Pagi Zehi from Zabol, Hassan Shahraki (imprisoned for three years), and Mehrdad Kalbali (imprisoned for four years) had also been sentenced to death on similar charges.
