He was tortured and forced to sign a pre-written confession, despite being illiterate. In July 2024, he was sentenced to death by Branch 1 of the Urmia Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, on the charge of \u201crebellion\u201d (baghi). His case is one among many in which defendants are sentenced to the irreversible punishment of death without due process, in the absence of legal counsel, and through an unfair trial\u2014this, despite the existence of solid evidence such as a passport stamp proving he was abroad at the time of the alleged conflict.
