\nBreathing in Confinement \u2013 On Saturday, 26 April 2025, political prisoner Mohsen Langar-Neshin, sentenced to death, was transferred to solitary confinement in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj in preparation for his execution.<\/p>\n
According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, Mohsen Langar-Neshin had a final visit with his family prior to the expected implementation of his death sentence.<\/p>\n
Langar-Neshin, a 34-year-old resident of Nowshahr, was arrested in July 2023 on charges of espionage and involvement in the assassination of IRGC Quds Force commander Sayyad Khodai. He was sentenced to death by Branch 15 of Tehran\u2019s Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati. The Supreme Court\u2019s Branch 41 upheld the sentence. His three requests for a retrial were denied, and the case was referred to the Sentence Enforcement Office.<\/p>\n
During his detention, Langar-Neshin was reportedly subjected to physical and psychological torture to extract forced confessions. He was denied the right to choose his own legal counsel. In an audio recording shared before his expected execution, he described the torture he endured and the threats made against his family to force his cooperation.<\/p>\n
His parents, in separate audio messages, expressed deep concern about the imminent execution of their son and appealed to the public and human rights organisations for help. They stated they were under pressure not to speak publicly about his situation. On Tuesday night, they waited anxiously outside Ghezel Hesar Prison, fearing the execution could be carried out at dawn on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
