Date: 3 June 2025 On Tuesday, 3 June 2025, political prisoners in 46 prisons across Iran went on hunger strike as part of the 71st week of the nationwide campaign \u201cNo to Execution Tuesdays.\u201d Meanwhile, families of death row inmates and civil and political activists held protest gatherings in Tehran and several other cities, demanding a halt to executions.<\/p>\n In a joint statement, the political prisoners called on the public to join the campaign, declaring:<\/p>\n \u201cIn the past two weeks alone, at least 67 prisoners\u2014including three women\u2014have been executed. This amounts to an average of seven executions per day. On 28 June alone, 20 individuals were executed in a single day with shocking brutality. These executions have been carried out without fair trials or due process.\u201d<\/p>\n According to data from the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran (Breathing in Confinement), with the participation of prisoners in Firouzabad Prison<\/strong>, the hunger strike now includes the following prisons: <\/p>\n Pensioners Protest in Kermanshah: \u201cEnough with Poverty and Discrimination\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Retirees from the Social Security Organisation, civil service, telecommunications, and healthcare sectors gathered in Kermanshah to protest low pensions, systemic discrimination, and worsening economic conditions. <\/p>\n Bushehr Boat Owners Protest Taxes and Fuel Cuts<\/strong><\/p>\n Boat owners in Bushehr staged a protest against the removal of tax exemptions for tahlengi (small-scale maritime trade), the imposition of a 5% VAT, and the cancellation of subsidised fuel quotas. The protest was violently suppressed by security forces.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rafsanjan Copper Workers Demand Housing Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n Workers of the Rafsanjan Copper Complex gathered outside the local courthouse to demand judicial action and resolution regarding the housing cooperative case and their lost entitlements.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mahshahr Municipal Workers\u2019 Strike Continues for the Seventh Day<\/strong><\/p>\n Municipal workers in Mahshahr continued their strike for a seventh consecutive day, protesting unpaid wages, failure to implement approved wage increases, lack of supplementary insurance, and withheld overtime pay.
