The identity of the prisoner has been confirmed as <strong>Omid Shokri-Pour.<\/strong> On Monday, 7 July, Breathing in Confinement had reported his transfer to solitary confinement in preparation for the execution.<\/p>\n<p>Omid Shokri-Pour, 42, was from Zardalan, a village in the Halilan County of Ilam Province. He had been arrested six years ago on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. <strong>His brother was also executed on similar charges two years ago.<\/strong> The family\u2019s efforts to obtain a stay of execution were unsuccessful, and the sentence was carried out at dawn on Wednesday, 9 July, in Karaj Central Prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by official resources.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024.
