27 July 2025<\/strong> Breathing in Confinement<\/strong> \u2013 The death sentence of at least one prisoner, who had been arrested and sentenced to death for the charge of \u201cmurder\u201d, was carried out in Dastgerd Prison, Isfahan.<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners’ Rights League in Iran, in the early hours of Sunday, 27 July 2025, a prisoner was hanged in the Central Prison of Isfahan. The identity of the individual, Reza Mir Foroughi,<\/strong> has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement. The outlet had previously reported his transfer to solitary confinement ahead of the execution.<\/p>\n Reza Mir Foroughi, a resident of Isfahan, had earlier been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and sentenced to death. He was transferred to solitary confinement on Friday, 25 July, in preparation for the execution. According to received reports, attempts to obtain consent for a pardon from the victim\u2019s family were unsuccessful, and the execution was ultimately carried out at dawn on Sunday, 27 July 2025, in the Central Prison of Isfahan.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by official resources.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024.
