{"id":6549,"date":"2025-08-09T16:51:30","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T16:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/?p=6549"},"modified":"2025-08-09T16:51:30","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T16:51:30","slug":"silencing-elite-voices-new-sentences-for-moradi-and-younesi-on-vague-charges-and-additional-punishments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bciran.org\/wplocationen\/prisoner\/silencing-elite-voices-new-sentences-for-moradi-and-younesi-on-vague-charges-and-additional-punishments","title":{"rendered":"Silencing Elite Voices: New Sentences for Moradi and Younesi on Vague Charges and Additional Punishments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>9 August 2025<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>News Group: Prisoners \u2013<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Breathing in Confinement<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Amir Hossein Moradi <\/strong>and <strong>Ali Younesi,<\/strong> two elite students and political prisoners who had already been handed heavy prison sentences, have once again been targeted by judicial pressure through the issuance of new court rulings while in prison.<\/p>\n<p>According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, and as reported by defence lawyer Mostafa Nili on his X account, Branch 29 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court has sentenced each of the two students to 15 months in prison on the charge of \u201cpropaganda against the state.\u201d In addition, on another charge against Ali Younesi \u2014 \u201cendorsing and strengthening the Israeli regime\u201d \u2014 he has been sentenced to five years in Kerman Prison.<\/p>\n<p>According to Nili, as an additional punishment, Younesi will be denied any access to cyberspace and phone contact with the outside world (except in necessary cases and under the direct supervision of the prison director) for the duration of his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The issuance of such sentences for vague, ambiguous, and unprovable charges such as \u201cstrengthening the Israeli regime\u201d or \u201cpropaganda against the state\u201d comes while both prisoners are already incarcerated and under pressure, without the possibility of freely defending themselves or having full access to their lawyers.
