28 August 2025<\/strong> Breathing in Confinement <\/strong>\u2014 At least six prisoners<\/strong> convicted on charges including drug offences, murder, and rape<\/strong> were executed by hanging at Ghezel Hesar Prison, Karaj<\/strong>, at dawn on Wednesday, 27 August 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran<\/strong>, the identities of those executed have been verified as Faramarz Shahbazi<\/strong>, Kazem Fatemi<\/strong>, Hossein Biabani<\/strong> (from Kangavar), Ahmad-Ali Mehri<\/strong> (from Tazeh Abad, Kuhdasht), Hesam Mohammadi<\/strong> (murder), and Ahmad Yousefi<\/strong> (an Afghan national; rape). A previous report had named five; the sixth has now been confirmed as Faramarz Shahbazi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Available case details indicate: Faramarz Shahbazi<\/strong>, son of Hojjatollah, from Kermanshah<\/strong> and a former karate champion<\/strong>, had been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death. Kazem Fatemi<\/strong> had been arrested for allegedly carrying 12 kg of methamphetamine (\u201cshisheh\u201d)<\/strong>. Hossein Biabani<\/strong> and Ahmad-Ali Mehri<\/strong> had also been arrested and sentenced on drug-related charges.
