The identity of this prisoner, <strong data-start=\"670\" data-end=\"689\">Mehrdad Mirzaei<\/strong>, has been confirmed by Breathing in Confinement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"1110\">Mehrdad Mirzaei, a resident of Chaparpard Zaman village, had previously been arrested on charges related to \u201cdrug offences\u201d and sentenced to death. In recent days, his family had submitted new evidence supporting his innocence and requested a halt to the execution, but the sentence was nevertheless carried out at dawn on Wednesday, December 10 2025,\u00a0in Rasht Prison.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of the time of this report, the execution of this prisoner has not been announced by official sources.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024.
