The identities of the executed prisoners have been confirmed as <strong data-start=\"728\" data-end=\"759\">Amirhossein Tavakoli Zanian<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"781\">Saeed Malekian<\/strong>. Breathing in Confinement had reported the execution of Saeed Malekian the previous day.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"1252\">Amirhossein Tavakoli Zanian, son of Aliyar, a native of Shahriar, had previously been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and sentenced to death. Saeed Malekian, son of Havassali, also from Shahriar, had previously been arrested on charges of \u201cmurder\u201d and sentenced to death. The sentences were carried out in the early hours of <strong data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1227\">Wednesday, 28 January 2026<\/strong>, at Ghezel Hesar Prison.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"1252\">\n<p><strong>No official report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As of the time of this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been announced by official sources.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annual Report on Executions in Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the annual report by the Statistics Centre of the Prisoners\u2019 Rights League in Iran, at least 1,170 individuals were executed in Iran in 2024.
