As of the time of publication, no official or transparent information has been provided regarding the reasons for their arrest, the charges against them, the judicial authority handling the case, their place of detention, or their physical and psychological condition. This situation is considered an instance of <strong data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1256\">arbitrary detention<\/strong> and is incompatible with the principles of a fair trial.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1761\">The immediate disclosure of the reasons for arrest, formal notification of charges, access to legal counsel, and the ability to communicate with family are fundamental rights of detainees. Furthermore, complete isolation from the outside world may constitute a form of <strong data-start=\"1584\" data-end=\"1621\">short-term enforced disappearance<\/strong>, which is prohibited under international human rights standards, particularly the <strong data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1760\">International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1763\" data-end=\"1968\">According to published information, <strong data-start=\"1799\" data-end=\"1818\">Rouzbeh Alipour<\/strong> had previously been sentenced to two years\u2019 imprisonment on charges of \u201cinsulting the Supreme Leader\u201d and was released after completing his sentence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1970\" data-end=\"2588\"><strong data-start=\"1970\" data-end=\"1987\">Babak Alipour<\/strong>, aged 34, born in Amol and a graduate in law, was arrested in his third detention on charges of \u201carmed rebellion through membership in the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization of Iran\u201d and \u201cpropaganda against the system.\u201d Following several stages of judicial proceedings, he was again sentenced to death in the final trial by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, along with five other political prisoners: <strong data-start=\"2441\" data-end=\"2467\">Pouya Ghabadi Bistouni<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2469\" data-end=\"2491\">Vahid Bani Amerian<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2493\" data-end=\"2519\">Seyed Mohammad Taghavi<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"2521\" data-end=\"2547\">Ali-Akbar Daneshvarkar<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2587\">Seyed Abolhassan Montazer-Majd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2590\" data-end=\"2914\">The arrest of relatives of political prisoners\u2014particularly in the absence of a clear legal basis\u2014is regarded as a means of pressure and <strong data-start=\"2727\" data-end=\"2752\">collective punishment<\/strong>, a practice that stands in clear contradiction to the principle of individual criminal responsibility and the human rights obligations of the ruling authorities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>31 January 2026News Category: Arrest &ndash; Breathing in Confinement &ndash; Three members of the family of Babak Alipour, a political prisoner sentenced to death, were arrested by security forces while returning from a visit with him.
