In protest against deforestation, illegal construction, and the destruction of natural resources, he published critical poems and writings.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1348\">He was arrested on <strong data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1079\">17 August 2024<\/strong> and transferred to an IRGC Intelligence detention centre. According to reports, he was subjected to <strong data-start=\"1180\" data-end=\"1225\">severe physical and psychological torture<\/strong> <strong>for one week,<\/strong> to the extent that he <strong>lost consciousness for<\/strong> <strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1297\">24 hours<\/strong> and eventually regained consciousness in hospital.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1350\" data-end=\"1618\">On <strong data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1367\">1 May 2025<\/strong>, following proceedings that <strong data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1419\">lacked transparency<\/strong> and were marked by <strong data-start=\"1439\" data-end=\"1494\">serious restrictions on access to his chosen lawyer<\/strong>, <strong>Peyman Farah-Avar<\/strong> was sentenced to death on charges of <em data-start=\"1551\" data-end=\"1564\">\u201cmoharebeh\u201d<\/em> (enmity against God) and <em data-start=\"1590\" data-end=\"1599\">\u201cbaghi\u201d<\/em> (armed rebellion).<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1620\" data-end=\"1986\">This occurred despite the fact that, under principles of fair trial, including the right to effective and unrestricted access to legal counsel, the right to a public and impartial hearing, and the absolute prohibition of torture under both domestic law and the international obligations of the Iranian regime, these fundamental rights must be upheld.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1988\" data-end=\"2364\">With the Supreme Court\u2019s confirmation of the sentence, there is a <strong data-start=\"2054\" data-end=\"2096\">serious risk of its imminent execution<\/strong>.
